Edit Viski-Hanka may be an expert
in skin care, but she’ll be the first
to tell you that beauty is more than
skin deep – a truth the beautiful
people of Kinetic Fitness Studio
have shown her time and again.
Edit, an Eastern European
version of the name Edith, was
born and raised in Hungary.
Desiring to become an esthetician
– a highly respected and valued
profession in European countries –
she studied skin care for two and a
half years. “We studied skin care in
depth,” she said, “everything from
anatomy and dermatology to ingre- dients
that produce the best results.
We examined the properties of
herbs, flowers, fruits and vegetables,
and we used products made
with these natural ingredients in
our skin treatments.”
In 1978, at age 22, Edit and
her husband Tamas immigrated to
America to escape the communist
regime in their homeland. They
soon discovered the beauty of
Colorado and settled in Denver.
Edit took a job doing skin care,
and in less than five years she was
making plans to open her own
business.
“When I came here,” Edit
explained, “skin care was mostly
about camouflaging the skin. I
asked clients what products they
used and they told me about their
cosmetics. They cleaned their faces
with soap and water. They got a
tan. They really didn’t know better.
I saw a need to educate people, and
I told them how to protect and take
proper care of their skin. The timing
was right for me to introduce
the type of skin care and products I
learned about in Hungary, so I got
serious about starting my own spa. |

“I wanted to use products made
with natural ingredients and to
offer treatments that were more
than feel-good, relaxing moments.
I valued European products for
their benefits to the skin, but they
were hard to find. Out of necessity
I’d whip up fresh fruits in the
blender, put them on the skin, and
evaluate the results. This kind of
experimenting helped me plan for a
spa that provided products and treat- ments
with long-lasting benefits.”
Edit Euro Spa in Cherry Creek
North opened in 1984 “It’s a won- derful
place,” she said. “We offer
Hungarian facials, body treatments,
body massage, and all kinds of spa
packages. We analyze the skin and
customize our services to help
clients make the most of their com- plexion.
We use natural products,
including my own product line.
Our clientele are results-oriented,
and they come back because they |
get results. I am proud to say that
my business remains very good in
spite of the economy.”
The year before she went into
business for herself, Edit discov- ered
Kinetics. “My husband was
always more athletic than I,” she
said. “I’d taken exercise classes,
biked, swam and jogged a bit, but I
wasn’t dedicated to fitness. In 1983
my mother passed away, and I was
really sad. I thought exercising
might help, and I’d heard about
this great place in Cherry Creek
where they did aerobics.
“One Sunday morning Tamas
and I walked in the door of Kinetic
Fitness Studio. Gene was teaching
an aerobics class. The floor was
packed with beautiful people in
really great shape, the music was
fantastic, and the mirror was
fogged over with steam from hot, |
